Sounds OK as long as the extrusion you got will handle the loads that a 
working pole has to carry.

I shopped around for a metals/aluminum distributor and bought a 12 ft extrusion 
for about $100, ordered end fittings from Defender and put it together myself.  
Total coast was about $200.

West and others seems a bit pricey at over $500. Any other suggestions?   Used
