When you say wants to turn over - is it not spinning or just not starting? Have you pulled a spark plug to see what condition they are - can tell you a lot about what the engine is doing.
I would go to Harbor Freight - or order online. For $9 you can get a mechanical oil pressure gauge. I put one on mine when the oil pressure gauge was freaking out - foremost to verify no issues from a lubrication perspective. If I had to hazard a guess. I am going to say some type of ignition failure caused a week spark and the plugs fouled out. Are you still running points or is it electronic ignition? There weren't any signs of trouble, no noises, no major temperature issues (it ran all day at around 155-160). The only thing that seemed abnormal was the oil gauge that kept jumping between 0-80. When we finally got towed back into the marina there was a lot of black soot collected on the starboard side of the transom. The engine has oil and gas and when I try to start it up it wants to turn over but can't seem to get there. Any ideas? Thanks, Matthew
