I was picking up a Harken roller furler this weekend and noticed something I
had not seen before on a Catalina 27. The owner was refitting his boat and
was in the process of removing/filling in some of the thru hull fittings.
He pointed out that the hull, that everyone believes to be solid fiberglass
is really a glass.foam/glass sandwich! His boat, $4813, a 1981 model, is a
close sister to my #4795, also an '81, just 18 hulls from mine, so I made
some photos for reference and thought I would pass them on here. The first
is the head thru hull and the second is another nearby smaller hole. I am
posting these here for your reference. They are NOT to scale.
