In my 82 there was no room to run another hose. The cabin floor was too close
to the hull between the engine compartment and the bilge. In fact I had to
change the hose to a larger size and even that almost didn't fit. It got stuck
where I could only touch the end with my fingers, I had to make a special tool
by welding an extension on the adjustment screw of a vice grip to act as a
clamp to pull the hose while pushing at the same time. Both pumps seem to work
fine independently.
