I have an independent hose for my electric pump on my 81 but I need to replace the check valve. When sailing the water pressure on the stern run's back through the pump and floods the boat.

In my 82 there was no room to run another hose. The cabin floor was too close to the hull between the engine compartment and the bilge. In fact I had to change the hose to a larger size and even that almost didn't fit. It got stuck where I could only touch the end with my fingers, I had to make a special tool by welding an extension on the adjustment screw of a vice grip to act as a clamp to pull the hose while pushing at the same time. Both pumps seem to work fine independently.
