My boat has a diesel with a wheel steering. My drains exit just below the 
stern, I think they exit in the molded blue water line. At the dock they are 
just slightly above the water line but underway the stern squats and they then 
exit under water. With the hoses off no water entered the boat while I changed 
them at the dock. I used my existing thru hulls. 
   Both of my drain hoses fell apart in my hands, I have never seen exhaust 
hose fall apart like these hoses did. My boat has always been a very dry boat, 
but this year I started taking on a little water in my bilge. After a wash down 
I noticed soapy water in the bilge, that's how I narrowed it down to the 
cockpit drain hoses.
