I really like working horses in hand and asking them to speed up 'in hand' to see what gaits they offer. Just like with the photo of Dagur I will often get some kind of easy gait when the horses are asked to speed up - easier when you are close and leading that on a longer line. Whatever it says about the breed or not I have had lots of horses that did one gait in the pasture, could be trot or pace, and have them do something more 4 beat when they were ridden. >I do think that the KMSH people allow evaluation tapes >of gaiting in hand, I wonder if there are some kind of >standards?
