That horse does not only have a very long mane but also a very long tail. That makes me think that it is probably living in a stall most of the time with the tail tied up to keep him/her from stepping on it. And just think of the ice balls forming in the tail if the horse was out in ice and snow! Several of my horses would grow a tail this long if I let them. But I am always worried about them stepping on it and tearing out hair at the root - ouch - that I always have a pair of scissors hanging near the hoof pick on the barn wall so can cut off the extra length when it gets close to the ground.
