>>> I am keeping my eyes open for a good saddle for my husband. He is going
to like a western type better and I'm not sure what direction to go. He is
going to be an occasional only rider and not very secure in his seat so I
need something that will help him. He's about 180 lbs and fairly agile for a
60 yr old - just not a regular rider.

Well, bring him down to try my saddles! I have a BMSS, the Barefoot
Cheyenne - similar to the Arizona, and now the Hybrid Sensation.

And did you happen to see the two treed western saddles that Liz Graves
brought down for the clinic? You could have knocked me over with a
feather - the wider one was wide enough even for Falki and Sina, and Skjoni,
Eitill and Trausti could use the narrower one. Dave Genadek made them. He
will customize and can - up to a point - make the bars short enough even for
a short-backed horse like Sina. (Obviously he can't make the bars short
enough for a really big seat, but for a180 lbs man - maybe...) I had
totally given up the idea of ever finding a "real" western saddle that might
fit her. I haven't decided to get one, and maybe I never will - I'm such a
treeless convert now - but it was really nice to know that it would be
possible to get one. http://www.aboutthehorse.com If I ever get a western
saddle, that's where I'll go looking.
