Hi Janice,
>It was great! We were about five hundred yards behind the
>bottleneck and they were just going nuts up there and then they fanned
>out so we were gonna go on and mix in and we were gaiting so fun wheee

Sorry to hear of your fall and hope it is mostly your ego : - )) that is
bruised and your body is not too injured.... Only you can write something
that can make it amusing - in your description.

Holding back a really hot horse is a challenge because if he can't go
forward then the 'energy' has to be displaced somewhere and some horses buck
if they can't go forward. What kind of bit are you riding him in? Is he
often quite forward or mostly in large groups? I would suggest that you try
something as a balance rein with whatever bit you are using. It would help
steady him back without tightening his neck which just makes him more tense
and then forward - or in his case sideways and upside down. I will send you
a pdf of the article - different from the neck ring.

Take lots of arnica if you have any and a hot bath with Epsom salts....

"The greatest enemy of the truth very often is not the lie- deliberate,
contrived and dishonest -- but the myth -- persistent, persuasive and
unrealistic."

"All truth passes through three stages.
First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed.
Third, it is accepted as being self-evident." ~ Arthur Schopenhauer
