My personal take on the recommendations for the Sensation saddles is that
Dana (the owner of Nicker's Saddle, and the designer of the Sensation) is
VERY conservative in her claims. I don't think she will recommend something
unless she's seen it tested herself. If you're like me, you're probably
used to manufacturers making unproven, even outlandish boasts, and I don't
think Dana works that way at all. One other thing she also says is that the
Sensations aren't recommended for riders over 200 pounds. But, my husband
weighs in about 235 and he's been using a Sensation for almost a year now,
with no problems. BUT, he's also a fairly balanced rider, we check the
horse's back regularly, and he is careful to use a good pad with the saddle.
He also isn't a distance rider, but a pleasure rider. So, the Sensations
might not work for certain riders over 200 pounds but I know of at least one
case where one is working very, very well.
