I don't know, but we must measure the same way, since we both measured Tivar
at 13.1H!  :)

Actually, I usually measure them about 3-4 times, on level ground from each
side and don't pay too much attention to what they are doing with their
heads at the moment.  Then I just average it out, since there usually isn't
much variation in the different measurements, and I don't need to know
closer than 1/2" or so anyway.  My current stick doesn't have a level on it,
but my old one did.  When I've measured this way, my measurements have been
virtually the same as the two horses I've had officially measured for show
purposes, so I assume this is ok.

I DID measure Skjoni once last summer at 14.0H, but I think that was a
fluke, so I've been calling him 13.3 3/4H - he's at least 13.3 1/2H, and he
is about the tallest Icelandic horse we have.  What's interesting about his
height is that we measured him at about 13.2-13.2 1/2H when he came here as
a not-quite-seven-year-old.  He's grown at least an inch since then, which
surprised me that a horse would grow so late.
