>>>> First of all.....let me go on record to say that I will not support
this "venture" that Iceland and Bjossi are trying to promote.... I am
surprised that owners of Icelandic Horses are willing offer their horses to
Richard "Dick" Garden....to use as he sees fit.

Wow Raven - good job in finding all those links. That's pretty disturbing,
to think people might fall for it and offer their horses for use to someone
with a history that long and apparently that questionable. Here's the
article about the proposed show:
http://www.eidfaxi.is/frettir/eindex.php?lang=2&frett_id=14234

When I first saw the article on Eidfaxi yesterday, warning bells went off.
Fist of all, I was already pretty sure the Ice Capades were out of business.
Search google, yahoo, and see what comes up - mainly "histories" of the old
shows we remember from our childhoods, and those show have been out of
business for many years. In fact, the "Ice Capades" name has been used for
an apparently unrelated-to-ice-shows business for several years. Nothing
came up about any currently planned shows at all. The Eidfaxi article says
the shows will start in November 2007 - and yet there is no website,
apparently no tickets for sale yet... That seemed really odd. Even when
people plan riding clinics on a local level, they typically have to rent a
local facility months, maybe a year, in advance, and you try to get the word
out to fill clinic spots as soon as you can. It's just six months until
these "Ice Capades" shows are to start...and no website...? No ticket
sales...? No promotion yet? Odd. Really odd...until you read all those
links Raven posted. The Eidfaxi article said there would be a "charity
event" in LA associated with this show - but didn't one of those links
mention that the promoter has been banned from running "charity" events in
Georgia...? Sometimes I think "famous" has another meaning in Iceland, if
they think that the "Ice Capades" in this recycled format are "famous" . I
didn't see much to indicate this guy has been booking shows in large
venues - most of the towns mentioned were small towns. The Eidfaxi article
indicates that the upcoming shows will be in large cities - somehow, I don't
see him making that leap, if all these articles about him are true.

As I've said so many times on this list, we have to question everything. It
didn't take many questions to set off some pretty loud warning bells on this
one...

And that's not even getting around to the basic premise that it's not in the
horses best interest for them to be running around on ice...
