>>> I doubt very much if a serious large scale study has been done. The
importation of Icelandic Horses from Iceland is a relatively recent
development. Elisabeth Haug came with her herd of 35 Icelandic Horses from
Denmark in 1979. Robyn Hood became involved with Icelandic approximately at
the same time or slightly earlier (Robyn, is that correct?). Other than the
Long Island herd that sort of fizzled, this basically was the beginning of
Icelandics on this continent.

Ok, Annie Shields, are you out there? I'd love to get all of you to fill in
the history that Anneliese started in this last post. The Maryland herd is
not the same herd as the Long Island herd - or are they? I know Annie lived
near the Maryland herd as a young teenager, and ended up buying some of
them, the last of whom died maybe ten years (?) ago. Annie sent me some
pictures, circa 1960 that were very interesting.

I believe Anneliese got her first Icelandic's around 1982?

How many Icelandics has Robyn and her family had in Canada, imports and
domestic borns?

How many has Anneliese had?

How many did Elisabeth have here in the USA? Does she still have any?

Who else had Icelandic's in North America in the late 1970's or early
1980's - or before?

I seem to remember seeing some photocopies of some old handbills from the
early 1900's - I think even one or two from the mid-1800's - advertising
"Iceland Ponies". Does anyone else remember those?
