The shot is given 8 days after the "act" and then it brings them into heat. It's used often by breeding barns so I feel pretty comfortable with it being safe. I'm so sorry you have to think about all of this.... This is why it's a no-brainer for me to give her the shot without waiting to test her. I don't want to take any chances on her having a full term pregnancy. The shot is not as effective if you wait. I had a terrible time explaining this to the sheriff's deputy who couldn't understand why I just wouldn't have the foal and sell it. AARRGGHH Laree >
