maybe if you have no choice but alfalfa you could find some commercial "forage" like Seminole makes this show chaff stuff and "happy hoof" which is low sugar. My horses just go insane over some feeds and I tell people this, like that weekend camping, two people just argued with me that I'm nuts, that their horses are totally unaffected by feed personality-wise and I am looking at them and thinking, well, one sold a great horse cause he was a hot maniac and the other's horse was such a nut she laughs and says she couldnt open a bottle of water on him for three years he was so jumpy under saddle. ding ding, a clue!
