>>>> -----------------I totally disagree with this Karen. This list IS a list very dedicated to semantics. Wording, specifically how the words tolt, rack, saddle rack, foxtrot, etc.. is used is talked about in-depth. And the focus is to make sure people are using correct terminology for the gait their horse is doing.
Words are our tools for learning, and I never said otherwise. But, this is not a list for debating the origins of language, or about preserving a vague word from a rather obscure language - if it is, then I'm on the wrong list. As I see it, the choice of words may indeed be critical to conveying complex ideas, and in that way, they ARE important. But when someone is quibbling over words, and isn't offering any insight that would help the horses, or our understanding of what we're trying to learn here, then the arguments are ONLY about semantics, to the point of ignoring the horses. I have no tolerance for that, as I'm sure is becoming obvious. As I see it, this list is about HORSES, Icelandic horses in particular. Karen Thomas, NC [EMAIL PROTECTED]
