Was that some incident with Andi? I don't recall hearing that.

Have you watched him train a horse? You've seen him in clinics so
you've seen something you like....maybe it would work.

We've signed up to attend a barefoot clinic in September. I'm such a
chicken, I plan to audit. I'm not taking a horse. Now if I like the
clinician...next year I'll bring a horse..

Anyway, when I first got on Gusti on my own...I expected some
fireworks or bells and whistles to go off...but to Gusti it was just
another ho-hum type of thing. He was ready for it. I'd spent enough
time working and puttering with him, that when I got on him I knew I
could trust him. What ever you do as far as ground work and gaining
each other's trust...transfers into the saddle.

Cara began putting on the finishing touches as far as riding (she's a
much better rider)...but the initial stuff I was able to handle
myself..

No wait, that's wrong. ... thinking back. When I wanted to get Gusti
moving (he'd plant himself when I sat on him)...I had Kevin come out
and lead him for me....and Kevin knows nothing about horses other than
they eat a lot and poop a lot...so as long as you have someone solid
that can lead you for the first few sessions, that should be okay.

One of the constraints I find I have is TIME. I know I need to devote
more time to training, but I just can't seem to squeeze everything in.
However, having said that...I'm glad I have Icelandics.. They
remember everything...not much repetition is required.

Let us know how it goes.
