Thanks for the input, Kristin. I'm not sure that this is a good comparison. We are not talking about having the foals work. We are just talking about handling them, having them get used to things that they will be confronted with their whole lives (very different things than in Iceland), teaching them things in a way that they enjoy being with people. It makes it so much easier to have them smarter, with more brain neurons and neural pathways that recognize things they will encounter as adults. This does not mean that we deprive them of playing with other foals or being with other horses.
