When the whole AIDS thing started coming out I was in nursing school, and it wasn't even in our brand-new textbooks. Everything we learned about AIDS was from handouts. And at the time it wasn't clear how AIDS was transmitted. One thing that really stayed with me is "there is no such thing as intact skin", meaning that even seemingly unbroken skin has tiny little nicks, scrapes, etc from normal everyday use. So a good thing to remember is to always use good quality gloves in such a situation. Karen and Janice, thanks for sharing your experiences.
