yes, i had to do that when stjarni moved to his current barn. he was a little sore in back for about four or five weeks, so be sure to take it easy on your horse during the transition. nothing bad happened to his gaits though. having recently been through (i hope :) a fully-barefoot transition i can recommend the use of a hoof supplement (i've tried several, so can't recommend one in particular; i go by the label and then the price :) and "keratex" (i think that's the name) as a hoof hardener. --vicka
