For you non Sensation riders, "freeswing" is the way traditional english leathers are attached with the ability to have a lot of swing both front & back. "Hard use" is a Sensation innovative design that has a buckle at the base of the flap that the specially made standard Sensation stirrup leathers buckle into for maximum weight distribution& engagement of the internal multi point rigging system. Your leg swing is still about 5-6" each way, but "hard use" your leg centered under you which can be a good thing once you get used to it if the flap is the correct length for you.
