or even call them "unethical horse people"? i'm sorry your daughter had such a lousy (and costly!!) experience with the orlando trainers. i think that would drive anyone away from horses, certainly it would have done me a lot of harm (i returned to riding with a LOT of fear issues...) imho if shoes are hard-soled with low heels, legs are covered with something in which the rider ends up comfortable and un-chafed, and a helmet's sei certified, a rider's good to go. (i have a funny story about a woman who wore an insufficient bra one day, and it did *wonderful* things for her posture...!) i do keep some extra sweatshirts and fleeces in my tack trunk for when people get cold, but that's me. --vicka
