Karen makes a good point. I actually can't imagine an instructor who never yells. Arenas are big and sometimes your voice just disappears on the breeze. I am not a gifted teacher of people and don't particularly enjoy instructing, but I have given lessons and I have yelled - sometimes to make a point or to catch a student's attention or even to keep someone safe.
However, if the riding instructor were being abusive in any way, I'd run (screaming) from the barn. Nancy
