I doubt she hates you!. I never tie my horses to saddle them. With Calvin he was always up for a ride, we mainly trail rode. When he didn't want to be saddled it usually meant something was wrong. First time that happened, turned out to be a hoof abscess. When he started never wanting to be saddled consistently and there was nothing obvious, I realized that it was time to retire him. He was diagnosed with coffin bone deterioration several years before and even with hoof boots, the hilly rocky trails were getting to be too much for him. My old mare was always a bit hesitant, but she was a bit lazy and has some arthritis. If you wanted to ride her two days in a row there was no way she'd stand still for a saddle on day two. Things I'd think about. Is she really comfortable with her saddle? Is the only time she sees you or your daughter coming to get her mean she will be working? Does she get stalled after you get her instead of going back to the pasture? -- Anna Southern Ohio
