That makes sense John, since the foxtrot is a much more efficient and "easier-on-the-horse" gait than the racking (tolt) gaits are. Trot, as it's been explained to me by the few endurance folks I've talked to, is the gait of effeciency to cover the most ground. So, a variation of that would be the best of both worlds I would think: ground covering AND smoother than a regular trot. I've ridden with Racking horses who will rack (tolt) down the trail almost continuously everywhere they go for an hour or two at a time, but I wonder/doubt a Racking horse who constantly racks would last in the endurance arena for any length of time. -- Renee M. -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
