Hi Karen, >>Note the difference in how this one is fitted, higher on the nose, note and how much looser it is..
I also really like Jane Savoie, she is nice with people and the horses and she is very dedicated. She was at the Mane Event in Vancouver Wash last year teaching while she was very sick. She wrapped herself up and sat in the middle of a cold arena so as not to disappoint the people who had come to the expo to ride with her. I don't have a problem with the use of a non-tight noseband but I don't think you can tell how tight it is from a photo at that angle not saying that it is really tight, just that you can't really tell. Her reins are relaxed which is great and the horse's ears are up but that can be attained pretty easily with the shake of food, a silly face etc.. I regularly see nosebands that are much tighter than I would use on many dressage horses not just Icelandics. I dislike it on any horse. You can certainly see that the Icelandic does have an extremely tight noseband - and that makes me especially sad because that horse is a grandson of our stallion Lettir - the tight rein contact even when the horse is standing still is, to me, just unkind and unreasonable.
