Hi Virginia, It's a horse by horse "thing". And age isn't necessarily a deciding factor (as in, the older horses need their teeth floated more than the younger ones). It's always best to have everyone checked once a year. Some might need it done that often, and others will be able to go years without problem. -- Renee M. in Michigan
