?? The ones I've seen do not - the stirrup bar is set further back so that the rider's leg is positioned more under the rider's body, similar to a dressage saddle. > >How many people in the UK use icelandic saddles? just per your >approximation. how many use other saddles and what type? One of the most popular saddles here is made in the UK, designed partly by an Icelander called Smari who has lived over here for about 15 years, partly by a British saddler called Gilly Wheeler. They have a sprung tree and adjustable flexible panels and come in all widths including xxxxxx wide.We have two of them, and I like them a lot. A lot of people also use Trapezius flexible panel saddles. Quite a few use Torsion treeless saddles, some use British-made working hunter saddles (like a cross between a GP and a dressage saddle) of various makes, some use dressage saddles, some use saddles imported from Europe or Iceland made for Icelandic horses. I would say that the number of people using saddles made in Iceland is probably less than those using saddles made elsewhere.
