Oh Janice that is adorable! I just kept asking all the time...my Dad finally
brought home a !%$#!#&%!! real race horse, said it was for me and then my mom
had him sell him and take him away. Just like my dad, buy something for him
and say it was for me!

always wanted.

Always wanted a pony too. My friend had a pinto pony she rode trails with and
showed. As an adult I thought I was too big for ponies. Wow, I love this
breed!

i hope they keep breeding them to hold on to the things about them that make
them well gaited and looking like a pony.

Well I am trying to do just that. The favorite riding Icelandics here are the
smaller more pony like ones by far. I have kept 2 babies out of my favorite
mare, a filly and a colt. Sally has kept a filly out of her favorite mare.
And we really like them naturally gaited. Sally says they could all be 3 or 4
gaited as far as she is concerned (no trot), more like a lot of the TWH she has
ridden. So what we are trying for is Icelandics that show tolt as their gait
of choice over trot....So far the Stallion we have used here has produced
babies that do just that. Easy tolters with a lot of color and good minds.

I just halter trained my colt the last couple of days. He was easy, willing
and intelligent. So force, no rodeo. Now I have a 1 1/2 year old colt that I
can easily lead with really what I consider very little input from me. I like
that. I call these guys 'wash and wear' horses/ponies.
