Hi Simon,

afaik you cannot handle redundant paths properly using the parents logic. But
you can use the Business Process Addon
(http://bp-addon.monitoringexchange.org/) to describe such interdependencies in
your configuration.

Betreff: [icinga-users] handling redundant setups (w.r.t. parents)

Hi all

[Background: I'm working to grok icinga as replacement for our nagios setup
(which is badly setup by a predecessor of mine). So I'm just working my way
through the manual and trying a test-setup on the way. ]

In our intended setup, we will have redundant firewalls/routers and redundant
switches. All hosts will be reachable when one of the redundant parents go
off-line. Only when both redundant parents go off-line will the hosts behind
them be unreachable.

Is it possible to encode this in the icinga configuration when defining
parents? How does icinga handle such a case?

Cheers

Simon
