Given the current environment of lawyers and such, my current belief is
that a lossy transliteration will increase confusion and chaos, not
decrease it.

Also I have noticed with most text input methods is that romanji
converts to usually between 3-10 kana + kanji. So all of the following
would map to ni in ascii, they all have the same kana, and each has its
own kanji.
