is RFC compliant, and includes a set of interoperability notes for the defacto and predominant implementation. The fact that some people want to change the RFC to restrict the possible set of implementations to be exactly = the 10 year old one from MIT, defies the original author's expectations that the fundamental requirements would change over time as technology evolves.
