I find it hard to keep the latest kernel box up-to-date manually, due to
the frequent releases in the development kernel. This is interesting
because the stable kernel seems to stand still for quite some time, while
it is known to require a lot of patches to be ready for production.
In any case, my suggestion for now is to disable it, so people won't be
mislead by it. We can replace it with a link to our archive, but without
specifying the version number. (unless we want to use JavaScript which I
don't recommend to.)
The Zope version we use is very old and may be bug-prone. It runs as the
"chen" user, but can still pose a threat to the integrity of the system.
Upgrading is a painful process mainly because Squishdot requires a few
manual tweaks. Someone wrote a web-crawler to retrieve the old information
some time ago and archive it in an SQL database, so we may use it to
migrate to a more sensible back-end. (assuming it had in fact been
written).
I would still recommend upgrading to RH 7.3, because otherwise I find we
will have a very hard time keeping the system up2date. (pun intended). We
are stuck with RH, due to the fact it is what Ligad ships on their
servers, even though some of us may prefer a different distro. But what is
the best distro for iglu.org.il is something we are too diverse to agree
to, so I say we stick to RH, for the while.
