The report seems to originate from Reuters, and besides /. it is also on Yahoo!, ZDNet UK, NY Times, etc, so there is a good chance that some group called META said something or other about this. From what I know about Reuters (disclaimer: I used to work for their biggest competitor some years ago) it is fairly difficult to hoodwink them into publishing unconfirmed information. Nor are they known for joking on dates other than April 1. As far as I understand META's prediction is that Linux will grab a larger share of servers than now, and M$ will be forced to port their DB and other server side s/w for it or lose the market share for those apps. I didn't see any statement that M$ are actually planning anything of the sort. NB: the prediction is about server side, not Office, which seems to be the focus of the more clueless of /. comments. -- Oleg Goldshmidt | [EMAIL PROTECTED] ================================================================= To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
