Hi, Facing the following issues with IIT Lan from hostel. 1) I cannot run local websites like www.iitd.ac.in, paniit.iitd.ac.in without proxy (10.10.3.16:3128), while these were locally available on Windows XP. 2) I cannot use the 10.10.4.1 repo and the CSE repo without proxy. In effect, the download is not only slow through proxy, but also eats up much of my daily quota, when i download/update a lot of packages.
I installed Ubuntu 8.04 in summer '08. After this sem started, this has been a major issue forcing me to still use windows, as I am not able to use the IIT Lan effectively. I tried to search the Ubuntu community website but cudnt find much. I thought LUGians are much conversant with the IIT LAN, so I am posting this with high expectations. Urgent Help needed !! as Ubuntu is much better than Windows and I dont want to fall to such issues.
