This is a kernel developed at Harvard. In the undergrad course on OS
here (University of Waterloo), students (same as you, 3rd year) are
asked to implement missing features which is also listed on the page.
You can try doing that to get your hands dirty, and then move on to
bigger projects (Linux/BSD kernel). Just think of this as a stepping
stone.
