books, yucks.....

if one is in hurry,he can try this approach: "LEARN -AS -YOU-GO"

get virtualbox ,from http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
...take your time to learn virutal box, it hardly take 30
hours even for a starter to learn it, after all no command is
needed,just point and click action.

...mistered some courage and get your fav distro first... for starter
ubuntu is recommended, though installation step is same for all debian
base linux.

first step how to install so start by googling 'how to install...'
second step , how to install/update/ packages and basic linux command
so again start googling the same. Every distro comes with a proper
documentation so, do stop to go through it first.

If you really need to read book ,then read book on 'operating system
design and implementation: by tannenbaum' or 'operating system
principle: by peter baer galvin' to get more detailed and theoretical
conceptual knowledge, which otherwise would be difficult to gain.

And last but not the least,
....The Linux philosophy is 'Laugh in the face of danger'. Oops.
Wrong One. 'Do it yourself'. Yes, that's it.

when i tried as such, i learn thing fast and got more practical
knowledge which otherwise i wouldn't had i tried starting with a
book. But sometime i end with no OS booting on my computer. specially
when once tried to install 'gentoo' linux. But thanks to virutalbox
you'll never face such condition.
