blender 3d is my fav.

Ever think of a rendering tool with a game engine.?? if not then Blender is
something that provide these all in one single package.
not only this, it's python console is not only used to write script for your
animation but you can run you normal python script in it as well. In short
with opensource editor : geanie +python interpreter .

Rendering engine
Game engine
ray tracing engine: yafaray
python editor +compiler
                                  Cost ?? price??
FREEEEEEE...

................ yes, opensource Blender 3d rendered arts. Totally amazing
naa?

Best part is that:

Yafaray: the best opensource raytracing engine ever is going to revamped
itself i.e they people are going to write the whole code from the scratch.
Blender 3d 4.9 also uses yafaray raytracing engine and soon it's will be
availbale in future releases of Blender 3d.

my second fav opensource stuff is Alchemy
http://al.chemy.org/
gallery: http://al.chemy.org/gallery/
drawing with alchemy is more about drawing with creativity.
it totally bring out the creativity out of you .Help many concept artist
like blender's concept artist David Revoy to come out with new creative
character and creatures
Best part, fun to work. could be a good graphic tool for school going
student.
With andrew jones as its brand ambassador and only 4mb in size it's very
lightweight tool written in pure java.
Good for anyone who want to connect to any opensource project. since alchemy
is in the initial stage and not well developed yet, one can easily get
himself acquainted with Alchemy java code structure and then work for it's
further developement together with it's real devleoper.

For those who don't know andrew jones(concept artist)

Third one is mypaint:
http://mypaint.intilinux.com/?page_id=9
being used by David Revoy and used it in latest blender opensource-movie :
sintel , (it's going to be a rocking one).

Whenever i want to draw something i took out my digi pen and start drawing
upon him . It has well support for almost all pen tablet bamboo, intuos, etc
etc.
Well best part is you'll never run out of paper. :D and second, it has huge
sets of brushes and different types of color palette and moreover for a
coder who's is more addict to using keyboard keys , you'll find working with
mspaint totally comforting and easy . it's shortcuts is unlike any other
paint tools.

Last but not the least Adobe photoshop.I wish open-source had answer to
photoshop too. :(

I tried to participate this year in gsoc under blender but couldn't bcoz of
my damn short knowledge... opengl, blender pythonin, sdl, blah blah blah.

Graphic workshop ,,....one day.. would love to attend one such workshop (if
time permit)

'Do it yourself'. Yes, that's it.
