IMHO, This has been an important discussion and it leads to our handling of people, project and process.
People start project and a process keeps the project relevant. Once the project starts, its better to handover it to an evolutionary process. This way projects move beyond the scope of even the original contributors. This happens with every project, be it the UNIX culture or GNU project - RMS admitted that. Mukesh Ambani said that General Electric has gone beyond Jack Welch. This is true of IITD-LUG and GLUG Meerut too. IITD-LUG is a very vibrant culture and it does not seem to be losing the process aspect. GLUG Meerut has dearth of adequate human resource and of course, a process. We are working on that. a GLUG cant be dependent on an engineering student who is most likely to become dormant after graduating and being employed by a non-FOSS company. We are working on people-process aspect. Linux Foundation and Linux Kernel still revolve around its benevolent dictator. Reliance, Wipro and Godrej are still the examples of central control. Linux is a registered trademark of Linus Torvalds. Why cant Narendra Sisodia run IITD-LUG community or Foundation if everything is moving ahead. If there are any disagreements, an evolutionary process can be devised to meet the concerns. Mohit Singh -- LUG@IITD - http://tinyurl.com/ycueutm
