Thanks for the clarification. I knew Ubuntu had moved away from sys V
but because I saw the /etc/init.d and the /etc/rc?.d/ directories, I
thought the same (old) procedure might still work.

@Rajat, you should find out more. I think you will still find your
answer in what we have discussed so far (may be it is upstart).
