I am using Ubuntu 12.10 x86_64 on intel machine.

>From last 2 days I am unable to logged in standard user (non root)
account. Initially the Ubuntu gets booted and then it shows the login
screen. Now on this screen as soon as I enter my password and press
return key the screen goes blank (complete dark black) for a second
and again login screen is shown. It happens in such a way that it
seems like I gets logged in to my account for a sec and then suddenly
some kind of service throws me out of it. Any ways I can logged into
root account. So that's what I am using at the moment.

Yeah! I know since I have the root access I can simply delete that
standard user account and then create a newer one. But I don't like to
lose my configurations of that account. So please suggest some way to
restore the above mentioned account.
