Dear Manjeet, Thanks for your comment. I haven't gone through those links as i didn't knew about those. My idea of an operating system to be designed for my BCA students have all the following points:
1. boot a computer system. Creating a minimal bootloader, 2. Actual LOC(Lines of Code) to be minimal.[Yet not decided on that, but surely to be minimal as compared to other Os like Minix, Linux and GeekOS]. 3. Source file to be minimal. 4. will have a CUI(Character User Interface) rather than GUI(Graphical User Interface). 5. We will create a uni-programming system. 6. A command line interpreter as in Linux and DOS operating systems. 7. A monolithic kernel <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monolithic_kernel> My basic idea is to provide a toy os with which students with minimal experience in coding can still work around and develop it. If they get interested then they could poke further and then enhance the code. This is because the students whom I teach (MCA and BCA) are not so much proficient in programming. This is my first effort to make them interested in the topic. I know the complexities of the code and the subject, but with the constraints mentioned above. I have to make things as simple as possible.
