Hi,
I didn't criticize you ...I flamed you....;-) Had you said that the distro is buggy I
would have agreed with you quite
heartily. But you chose to say, in your own admission, the OS is buggy (refer --> "OS
gets buggy"). Of course the Linux
kernel has got its share of bugs, but they get fixed faster and with lot more
transparency than in case of proprietory
OSes. Stability of the OS is one of the strongest reasons for anyone moving to Linux.
When such loose comments are made
on a LUG list, they harm the movement. One should remember that people on this list
are quite likely to refer to what
they hear/read here while speaking to others (non-members) about Linux.
Anyway, never thought that I would see the day when I could come to be considered as
the boogeyman on this list. It has
never been my intention to scare off people from voicing their opinion. Strong
opinions expressed strongly is part of
the online linux community, try to get used to it. Keeping quiet won't get you
anywhere, if you have an opinion on
anything then speak out... maximum that will happen is that you will get flamed. Do
tell your friend/colleague that
s/he can post without fear...I promise not to bite his/her head off *grins*
Cheers,
--Indra.
PS. Yes, I see red when I hear the words distro and OS used interchangebly in the
Linux context. My first reaction is
to try and strangle the person, and the second one is to gather up lots of books on OS
theory in a sack, tie it to the
offender's heels and push him/her off the Howrah bridge while a tide is running, the
third one is lot less violent. I
end up flaming the person....you should consider yourself as _real_ lucky ;-)
PPS. If you think I am violent, I wonder what you would do if you were to face ESR in
one of his "moods" ...lol!
