I seem to have a bete-noire with the 17222x Lines... And
that too with Linux.
I have tried these Hunting Lines from Win9x and Win 2000.
Within about two tries, I invariably get a decent connect
which stays on for a while. But when I use Linux, wether
with a minicom script or using kppp in KDE or Xisp, I do not
seem to get a connect that transfers data at a decent speed
or that stays on for more than 4 to 5 mins.... And that too
with a s10=500 in the modem string. Since I have a GVC 56k
Modem I have included atx3 in the string instead of the
normal atx1 but that too seems to have little effect. But at
the smae time I cannot detect any line noise and other ppl
in my neighbourhood seem to get decent connects on these
lines...
So any ideas as to WHY this should be the case ? Any
suggestion as to how this can be remedied ?
