OK LINUX BONDS

TELL ME SOMETHING..... FAST

WHERE IS INDRANIL DASGUPTA. this is very very urgent. tell him to get back
to madhulika mohta IMMEDIATELY. it's crisis time and we do not have time,

HERE IS FOOD FOR YOU.

i have a linux based server---a 17 GB hdd -which may crash anytime . no not
LINUX , the hard disk.

v r developing a site which had to go under trial / test run soon; and
Murphy's law has proved itself once again.

so now i wish to transfer all the configuration files from the about to
crash hdd to another hdd/ cd under the following conditions and constraints.

1. hdd head has been damaged.it has to be changed and no other way out.
2. computer is right now up and running. we cannot afford to shut it down
coz v r not sure about it getting booted another toime after a shut down.
3. cd writer has not been configured for linux.( it is not on the same
machine)
4. network is up and running. ( only telnet and FTP access) . other 5
machines are windpws based.
5. we need the full configuration of our mirror server to be retrieved
so that we do not have to go thru the procedure for installatuion again.
6. any load shed and we r gone. SO TIME IS MONEY.

so tell me how without shutting down shud i transfer my 'configuration
files' and the 'data' to some other storage device in short time.

abhishek
