Each posting sent out by the majordomo server carries a footer that says :

The FAQ clearly mentions --

"ILUG-Cal Mailing list Archive is located at:
http://www.egroups.com/list/ilug-cal/info.html"

Obviously this is not adequate, so let us know more about your opinion on this...

First off, www.linux-india.org is /not/ being mirrored in the indian-webspace. LI has
/moved/ from Thaths' server in
Mountainview, CA, USA to the Exocore server in B'lore.

The options you have put means relocating ourselves with either -- Exocore's (thats
Atul Chitnis's company) or
Palcom.net's (where Raj Mathur is working) server. None of which I find to be
acceptable.

The primary reason why I do not want ILUG-Cal to shift to the either servers is
because, I DO NOT WANT our LUG to be
dragged into any unnecessary controversy or to be an unwilling party to the
unfortunate politics surrounding certain
prominent persons spearheading the Linux popularisation effort in the country. I have
been a witness to these internal
politics (if I may use the word -- disgusting backbiting attacks) and have tried to
maintain a neutral, but by no means
silent, stand on these unfortunate topics, in an effort to help maintain sanity. The
good thing is that in the end good
sense prevailed over everything, at least for the time being.

I stand by the degree of autonomy that ILUG-Cal enjoys by being hosted on an
independent 3-party server (ie. Russ's) who
is/and will never be a part of such controversy.

> (No of course in anyway detracting from the great
> help russ ell has been) .

Russell has been more than a "great help" by sponsoring hosting of our site... he has
always been there for us to
provide us the required tech support whenever anything needed his/admin's attention
despite having other (ie. paying)
things to do. How can we be sure of the support issue if we decide to move?

However, if the majority of ILUG-Cal is in support of the move, I will go along with
the opinion of the majority.
However, if the time ever came to choose between getting Atul's or Raj's help, I would
go for Palcom, not because I have
anything against Atul, but I find Palcom to be a better choice since its an ISP
although Palcom is a tad slower than
Exocore server by ~70 ms.

You feel it? How? By some sort of bio-cybernatic hitcounter that lets you know as and
when the hits take place?? You
should immediately post re this on /. ;-)

Then why even bother? Suggest something that will do the trick....
