sorry for keeping the original email. most likely reason is. a job is there in the queue in the linux server. so when you connect it starts printing. the gibberish that you talk about happens when the wrong driver is used to print. it happens with windows as well but rarely the way you mentioned. delete all the jobs in the queue in linux. and see if you can get a linux driver for it.
