Well, we had a lot of discussions on participating in compass, and it seems that we are after all going to participate. That's good, very good !
I hope that if i add my two cents to the discussion, none of the confirmed volunteers will object. In my other mail, i've included a link to a windoze lookalike desktop. I know purists will try to strangle me, :) i wish to point out however, that we shouldn't try to make a presentation, to an essentially technophobe ( at least CLI phobe) audience, without including all possible weapons in our armoury. If i remember correctly, mr.sharma had promised to provide two tablet pcs, for demonstration purposes. If the pcs have stylus input then there is a possibility of a fancy demo. We could load Gimp on the machine, and an 'artist penguin', somebody good in drawing/ painting, could pick up a member of the audience, make a quick portrait of him, and print it out on a paper, with the caption, "Linux, it works". We can substitute paper with T-shirts, only if we get sponsors. One more thing, i would like to attend some sort of workshop on things like compiling kernels, programs from source code, and things like that, organised by the senior members of the LUG. My experience of these areas is patchy, and if somebody comes up and asks me "How to compile the kernel?" at compass, it would not do the lug any good in terms of credibility, if i as a member/volunteer , is found incapable of answering such questions. :) Soumyadip Modak -- To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the body "unsubscribe ilug-cal" and an empty subject line.
