That's right !! > on-track will be taking a stall for their own commercial > purpose .. they have been kind enough to allow linux users > group, calcutta to put up their thing(s) in half of the stall > .. that would be suitable for one server (under the table) > and two desktops on the table PK(Jethu), I understand that we have limited space. Now, can't we keep all the boxes below the table, and the three monitors on the table. Anyways let's keep the option for the fourth pc open and if it turns out that the space is such that we can squeeze it in, then that's great. > there IS one possibility .. which i did outline earlier too > .. as a life member in COMPASS, my company could get a stall > .. and ilug-cal could use the entire stall too .. on costs > reimbursement basis .. but then we are talking about money > and collection and payment and handling .. that's a no-no for > now .. unless ilug-cal wants to change THAT > > with the clear picture now, a stall of 3m wide and 2m deep > would cost 4500/- per sq meter .. and a discount of 40% to > members could be worked out .. meaning 2700/- per sq. m .. > that would be > 16,200/- .. to some THAT is is huge amount .. if 16 > 'volunteers' share .. it would mean 100/- per head .. if 8 > volunteers share .. it would mean 200/- per head .. and the > good thing would be that this deep discount stall would be in > sangam hall, park hotel .. where only software people would > be visiting .. or that would be the bad thing abt it .. > depends on how you view the matter > > ..pk You mean 1000/- per head for 16 volunteers ( 16 * 1000= 16000/-) :)Or is it 100/- per head for 160 volunteers ? Any way, its too late to get a separate stall, and then we have certain members not comfortable with the idea of registration, written constitutions and AGMs so on, associated with a formal society. Remember the old debate (ok its not so old, but many new members/enthusiastic volunteers joined after the debate died). Let's have a presence at compass, if the reponse is good, then we can convince the naysayers, and get a full stall, at the next compass. Let not the debate start again, not at this point. Let's concentrate on the event that's about a month away. After that we can have a leisurely debate on the formal registration of the LUG as a non-profit organisation, promoting the use of the whole gamut of Free/Open Source (and the so many other different Licensed) software, among the people, and hopefully the government. Hopefully, we will be able to utilise your offer fully in the next Compass. :) Soumyadip Modak RCC Institute of Information Technology Kolkata, India -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGPfreeware 7.0.3 for non-commercial use <http://www.pgp.com> iQA/AwUBPgnXgwAMO//EcNNiEQK6xgCgkm+QD4iNihL1N7bWf95pDd3Q8DQAnid9 WQQKHgDH8147f+bIrijbxlKa =0DAy -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the body "unsubscribe ilug-cal" and an empty subject line.
